Bluestreaks Club is looking for junior field hockey players to join team Thunder, which is part of our upcoming outdoor league.
Outdoor is a fast-paced game played at the University Hawkings Field on Sundays. It’s a great way to complement your high school field hockey skills and/or switch sports for the spring from ringette or ice hockey.
⚡Fast Facts
- Games are 11 vs. 11 including a goalkeeper for U16 (5 vs. 5 or 7 vs. 7 for U12/14)
- Players get a lot of time on the ball (and it’s a ton of fun!)
- All levels (beginners included!) are welcome
- Age groups available are U12/U14/U16/U18 and beginner U19
- Schedule for the season is games on Sundays and practices on Wednesday nights

Practices:
- Location: Viper Dome (2255 Crowchild Trail)
- Time: Wednesdays ~6:00-8:00 p.m. or ~8:00-9:30 p.m.
Program/Games:
- Location: University of Calgary, Hawkings Field (turf) corner of University Avenue and Warren Street
- Date/Time: Sundays (game times vary week to week)
- May Dates: 3rd, 10th, 24th, 31st
- June Dates: 14th, 21st
- Festivals: Lacombe (Sunday, June 7th) and Calgary (Sunday, June 28)
- Length: The season starts with practices on April 28, games starting on May 3, and ending on June 28.
Fees:
- Annual Registration/Insurance Fee: $56 paid to Field Hockey Alberta online here
- Registration year runs from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. If you played indoor you are already registered.
- Player Dues: $300 for league play to be paid through the Club
Equipment Required:
- Shin guards, mouth guard, indoor stick, gym shoes, shorts, water bottle, and gloves (optional)
- Team shirt and socks (colours are orange and white)
- Reversible shirt is provided for the season
- Socks are included with the fees

- Option of renting a stick is available upon request
